Luxury Living on the West Coast with Iconic Le Morne Views

Surf, serenity and the island's finest sunsets
Tamarin is where surfers, families and those seeking something more authentic than the resort towns tend to land. The bay itself — a sweeping arc of the Indian Ocean backed by the Rempart Mountain — is one of Mauritius's finest natural harbours, and the reef break at its entrance is the island's most consistent surf spot. Spinner dolphins have been swimming in Tamarin Bay for centuries; watching them at dawn from a small boat remains one of the defining Mauritius experiences.
The town has evolved significantly over the past decade. The Tamarina Golf Estate brought substantial investment and a wave of villa development; today Tamarin has a comfortable mix of long-established local families, South African expats, and French and British professionals who work remotely or commute to Port Louis. The lifestyle is unhurried, but the infrastructure is genuinely good. Cascavelle Shopping Mall — with an Intermarché, Jumbo Score, and cinema — is 15 minutes away, and the Black River Gorges National Park begins almost at the edge of town.
Property ranges from single-bedroom beach apartments to large IRS villas on the Tamarina Estate and the ambitious La Balise Marina smart city development. Prices have appreciated strongly over the past five years and Tamarin now attracts serious investment buyers alongside lifestyle purchasers.

Yes. Tamarin has several PDS and IRS developments that allow foreign nationals to purchase and qualify for Mauritian residency. The Tamarina Golf Estate and La Balise Marina smart city are the best-known examples. Standard resale properties are also available, though without automatic residency rights.
Very family-friendly. The beach is calm and safe for children, the community is welcoming, and Cascavelle area offers several schooling options. Families relocating from abroad often use private schools in Quatre Bornes (around 30 minutes away). The outdoor lifestyle — hiking, beaches, golf — suits families well.
Yes. Spinner dolphins have inhabited Tamarin Bay for generations and boat operators run tours most mornings before 9am. The dolphins are wild and free-swimming — responsible operators maintain respectful distances and allow the dolphins to approach voluntarily.
Port Louis is approximately 45 minutes via the M1 motorway in normal traffic. The airport (SSR International) is around 55–65 minutes, though the expressway has made this journey much more comfortable in recent years.
Long-term rental yields in Tamarin typically range from 4–6% for well-positioned villas and apartments. Short-term rental yields can be higher — 6–9% for properties near the beach — particularly from December to April (peak season) and June to August (cooler season).
